4Good productJul 20, 2013
By Mahesh N "newsysbuild"
I have been looking for options to utilize the AM6 speakers at my home which came pre-wired with 14 gauge speaker wires. Given the requirement of the Bose speakers to be used only via the powered accoustimass module, the adapter was the only product available that does the trick.

The product is very simple to set up and works very well once completed.

Two points that i would like to mention about some of the quirks of the adapter kit.
1. 14 gauge wire does not easily go into the slot at the back of the adapter, so hopefully Bose reviews the product design and makes the notches appropriately wider.
2. The adapter board itself connects to a low voltage gang box. for those who have media centers, the media centers add an extra layer of wood on top of the dry wall. This creates problems as the cover plate that goes on top of the adapter also needs a small screw to complete the aesthetic look. But alas, this needs an extra hole which is typically not available unless the buyer makes an additional hole either in the wall or on the back of the media cabinet. If the product designers merge the two together, it will eliminate the need of extra holes.

Once set up , the product works great.

Now i wish if only Bose also comes up with cables that eliminate the need of the LOOOOOOONG cables required from the powered module to the receiver as part of the accessories for AM6 and AM10.

4Easy to install - works great - one minor issueDec 01, 2013

My home was pre-wired for 5.1 surround sound with all the wires coming through the wall in a large bundle along with my cable, phone, and Ethernet cables. I cut an opening in the same stud bay and installed a low-voltage mounting bracket and re-routed my speaker wires (all but the sub-woofer) to this new opening. I connected each wire pair to the proper terminals on the Bose adapter. By the way, a little trick to check which wires you are working with is to use a AA battery. Simply touch the two wires to the positive and negative terminals on the battery and listen for the click at the attached speaker. Once all the wires were connected and the finish plate installed, I plugged in the harness and connected the other wires to my AM10 sub. The only problem I had was that the AM10's cover didn't want to stay attached properly because the harness doesn't have low-profile plugs like the Bose wire harness comes with. That's where I took one of the stars away from my rating. Other than that, this adapter provides a secure, clean way to deal with the large mass of wires without all the sloppy splices, crimped connectors, and electrical tape that tend to work loose over time.

5Looks great, works great and easy to installAug 15, 2011

I used this adapter with 14awg in wall speaker wire and the installation was easy. 14awg wire is definitely the limit and a bit tricky to install in the holes, but with a little patience I got all the wires in. It's a nice clean design. I'm using it with the Bose acoustic mass module.

5Great Product!Jan 02, 2008

I bought this to go with my Bose AC 10 speakers and Sony receiver. I'm very happy with it, and I'm still in the process of trying to wire everything together (very tedious). But, this is a great product, makes your home theater look professional, and very straight forward to hookup. Also matches nicely with the white Bose speakers.

5Necessary for Bose SpeakersOct 03, 2013
By beancounterkevin
You will find that if you run wires for your Bose speakers in the wall, you will absolutely need to have this adapter kit to connect those speakers to the subwoofer. I don't use a Bose amplifier, but I still had to run all my wires from my amplifier to my subwoofer. Then this adapter connects the subwoofer to the wall where all the speaker wire are. I know it doesn't make sense to run ALL speaker wires to the subwoofer before they go to the smaller speakers, but that is the way Bose works.
